Interim government Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus performed Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the National Eidgah grounds at 7:30am on Saturday, joined by the chief justice, Supreme Court judges, advisory council members, political leaders, senior officials, and diplomats from Muslim countries, according to state news agency BSS.

Following the prayers, special supplications were offered for the nation’s peace, prosperity, and citizens’ wellbeing. The chief adviser exchanged Eid greetings with fellow worshippers afterward.

At Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, five congregations were held as per tradition – at 7:00am, 8:00 am, 9:00am, 10:00am, and 10:45am. The Meteorological Department had forecast intermittent morning rains, dampening prayers for many.

Muslims across Bangladesh completed sacrificial rituals after morning prayers, though Islamic provisions allow animal offerings until Eid’s third day for those with valid reasons. Due to geographical positioning, Bangladesh observed Eid a day after Saudi Arabia and other nations, following the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah lunar calendar date observed worldwide post-Hajj completion.
