The MASTUL Foundation, in collaboration with the Al Zakat Sadaqa Foundation, is set to host a day-long Zakat Conference 2026 on Saturday, at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel.
The event aims to provide practical guidance on how zakat can be used to accelerate social development and contribute to poverty alleviation.
The conference details were confirmed by Mujahidul Islam (Hafiz Maulana Mufti Mohaddis), an esteemed member of the MASTUL Foundation Shariah Board and the conference organising committee.
For the past seven years, the foundation has worked tirelessly to make zakat management more effective, transparent, and development-oriented.
Objectives and Scope
The primary objective of the Zakat Conference 2026 is to highlight the role of zakat in poverty alleviation and humanitarian development.
The event will focus on raising public awareness regarding the obligation of zakat, clarifying calculation methods, and exploring its application within a modern context.
Furthermore, a special workshop will be conducted to strengthen the capacity of institutions responsible for the collection and distribution of zakat.
Distinguished Participants The conference will be attended by renowned Islamic scholars from home and abroad, government officials, social workers, development experts, and medical professionals.
Representatives from private organisations, academicians, and donors of the MASTUL Foundation will also be in attendance.
Mohammad Kamruzzaman, the Convener of the Organising Committee, emphasised that zakat is a powerful social and economic system rather than merely an act of worship.
“Through proper planning, transparency, and responsible distribution, zakat can transform lives and help build a sustainable and humane society,” he stated.
Legacy of humanitarian service
The MASTUL Foundation is a national humanitarian organisation registered with the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
Operating locally since 2012 and internationally since 2023, the foundation gained international recognition for its emergency responses during the Gaza crisis in 2024 and the Sudan crisis in 2025.
Within Bangladesh, the foundation is notable for its “Zakat Swabalambi” (Zakat for Self-Reliance) project, which creates long-term employment and promotes self-reliance through vocational training and education support.
Other initiatives include providing free daily meals and developing a Shelter Home Complex for orphans and the elderly.
Tax Incentives for Donors Donations, zakat, and sadaqah contributed to the MASTUL Foundation are income tax-exempt under the regulations of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). These contributions also qualify donors for tax rebates, reflecting the foundation’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
