Five leaders of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) from Kishoreganj were arrested while on a trip to Cox’s Bazar and were taken into police custody on Thursday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sheikh Samrat Alamgir, President of Katiadi Upazila; Md Roni Khan Shuvo, General Secretary of Katiadi Upazila; Habibur Rahman Rakib and Samad Ullah, both Joint General Secretaries of Katiadi Upazila; and Tofael Ahmed Tuhin, General Secretary of Pakundia Upazila Chhatra League.
According to reports, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) apprehended the five leaders on Tuesday evening at the Cox’s Bazar Airport area. They were then handed over to the police, who transferred them to the Katiadi and Pakundia police stations for further proceedings.
Mahbubur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Katiadi Police Station, confirmed the arrest, stating that the leaders were brought to the Katiadi station on Thursday afternoon.
