Bangladesh batter Tanzid Hasan Tamim says he is staying positive and focused on World Cup preparation even as the lead-up to the tournament faces delays. Speaking ahead of his next Bangladesh Premier League match, Tamim reflected on his recent batting form and the challenges of preparing amid a busy schedule.
Tamim, who has played 45 T20 internationals and scored 11 half-centuries for Bangladesh, has accumulated 1,120 runs in his international career. Despite an early struggle in this BPL season, where he has scored 166 runs from eight innings for Rajshahi Warriors, he found form in their last match against Dhaka Capitals, scoring a match-winning 76-run knock that earned him the Player of the Match award.
“When our last series ended, we had a batting camp, which I hope was very productive for all of us,” Tamim said. “Since we will not have much time after the BPL ends, we have to take whatever preparation we can during the tournament itself. Here, we are facing different kinds of situations within matches, which I believe will be very useful for the World Cup.”
Reflecting on recent performances, Tamim added, “In the last few matches where I didn’t score runs, I tried to identify specific things, what mistakes I was making and where exactly my shortcomings were. I’ve been thinking about those issues myself and working on them. I hope that if I can perform consistently from now on, it will help me and it will help the team as well.”
When asked if the prolonged preparation process ahead of the World Cup was affecting him mentally or impacting his training, Tamim said, “No, not at all. You all know that the BCB and the ICC are in communication so that we can participate in the World Cup and be placed in a suitable location where we can stay safely and securely. I hope they are working on this matter very well. As for this issue, I don’t want to make any comments.”
