The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday published the full verdict against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on its official website.
The 457-page ruling details the crimes against humanity for which they were convicted and describes how they allegedly carried out acts of repression and killings.
The verdict was made available on the Chief Prosecutor’s Office website of the tribunal.
It provides a detailed description of two specific crimes based on five charges brought against the accused.
The original verdict, delivered on 17 November last year by ICT-1, had sentenced Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death for one charge and life imprisonment for another.
The court also ordered the confiscation of all their properties in the country.
Former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who testified as a prosecution witness, was sentenced to five-year in prison.
Following the verdict, the prosecution has appealed to the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division seeking stricter sentences for Hasina and Kamal on the life imprisonment charge, while Al-Mamun has also filed an appeal seeking acquittal.
