Bangladesh have recalled Taskin Ahmed for the three match T20I series against Zimbabwe after Mustafizur Rahman was ruled out with a hamstring injury.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed on Friday that Mustafizur will miss the remainder of the tour after suffering a right hamstring strain during the opening ODI. The left arm seamer will return home to continue his rehabilitation.
Taskin had originally been granted a no objection certificate to miss the Zimbabwe T20Is so he could play the full Lanka Premier League campaign. Litton Das was also given permission to head straight to the tournament.
However, Bangladesh have reversed that decision following Mustafizur’s injury.
“We allowed them to skip the Zimbabwe T20Is as Taskin and Litton were given NOC to play in the LPL from the start, but as Mustafizur is out due to injury we have included Taskin in the T20Is. He will join the LPL after completing the T20Is against Zimbabwe,” BCB chief selector Habibul Bashar told Cricbuzz on Friday.
Taskin will represent Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League alongside Shakib Al Hasan. Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz are set to play for Galle Gallants, while Hasan Mahmud is expected to join Colombo Kaps after completing his stint with Kent in the T20 Blast.
The BCB have also named Mohammad Saifuddin as Mustafizur’s replacement for the third and final ODI in Harare.
Bangladesh head into Saturday’s series finale looking to avoid a clean sweep after losing the opening two one day internationals. The focus will then switch to the three match T20I series against Zimbabwe.
