The nomination of Tasnim Jara, an independent candidate in Dhaka-9 constituency for the upcoming election, has been declared valid following an appeal against the Returning Officer’s earlier decision.
During a hearing held on Saturday at the auditorium of the Election Commission Bhaban in Agargaon, the Election Commission (EC) upheld her appeal and declared her nomination legal.
As a result, there are no longer any obstacles to her contesting in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin presided over the hearing, with other election commissioners also in attendance.
Appealing candidates and their representatives participated in the proceedings with the required documents.
On 3 January, after the initial scrutiny, Returning Officer and Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Rezaul Karim had declared Jara’s nomination invalid.
Challenging that decision, she submitted an appeal with the Commission on 5 January.
