Banglalink on Thursday officially launched its nationwide Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) calling service, enabling customers to make high-quality voice calls using Wi-Fi alongside mobile networks.
With this rollout, customers across Bangladesh can now enjoy HD voice quality and uninterrupted calling, particularly in areas with weak mobile coverage such as high-rise buildings, dense structures, rural areas, and remote locations.
Banglalink first introduced VoWiFi on a pilot basis in September 2025, becoming the first mobile operator in Bangladesh to deploy the technology. The pilot, conducted in selected areas of Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna, helped optimize the service based on real-world performance and customer feedback.
VoWiFi automatically routes calls through available Wi-Fi networks when mobile signals are weak, ensuring seamless switching between Wi-Fi and mobile networks without the need for apps or additional authentication.
Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer of Banglalink, said, “VoWiFi addresses connectivity gaps, ensuring reliable communication regardless of location or infrastructure. Whether in rural areas or indoor environments, customers can rely on consistent call quality.”
Currently, Wi-Fi calling is available on selected handset models and with selected ISP partners. Banglalink is working with device manufacturers and ISPs to expand availability in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
The nationwide launch of VoWiFi adds to Banglalink’s portfolio of digital services, including MyBL, Toffee, RYZE, and enterprise solutions, further supporting Bangladesh’s digital transformation.
