Tribute to Khaleda: BNP holds prayer programmes Friday

BNP has announced a series of programmes for Friday, to mark the death of former prime minister and party chairperson Khaleda Zia.

As part of the programme, the BNP will organise a milad and doa mahfil after Asr prayers at the Central Mosque in Gulshan, also known as Azad Mosque, seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of Khaleda Zia. BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, the party’s secretary general, and senior leaders are expected to attend.

Earlier in the day, at 11am, Ducsu ’90 and the All-Party Students’ Unity will place floral wreaths, recite Fateha, and offer prayers at the graves of the proclaimer of independence and former president Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.

At 3:30pm, the Bangladesh Nationalist Freedom Fighters Party and the Progeny of the Liberation War will jointly organise a programme at Khaleda Zia’s grave, featuring the laying of wreaths, recitation of Fateha, and a doa mahfil. Bir Muktijoddha Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram will attend the programme as the chief guest.

Later, at 5pm, the party will hold a doa and milad mahfil inside the Dhaka University Teachers-Students Centre, seeking forgiveness for Khaleda Zia’s departed soul.

In addition to the central programmes, BNP units at the district, upazila, municipality, union, and unit levels across the country will organise doa and milad mahfils at convenient times to pray for the late leader.
