Nepalese forward Ayush Ghalan struck twice as Bangladesh Police Football Club secured their third win of the Bangladesh Football League (BFL), beating Arambagh Krira Sangha 3–0 at the Shaheed Miraj–Tapan Stadium on Friday.
Police took control in the first half. Ayush opened the scoring in the 36th minute, before veteran winger Mohammed Amirul Islam doubled the lead five minutes later, converting after being set up by Ismail Hossain.
The Ayush–Shafiq Kagimu combination clicked again after the break. Seven minutes into the second half, Kagimu was involved in the build-up as Ayush finished confidently to make it 3–0 in the 52nd minute, sealing a comfortable victory.
The win moved Bangladesh Police FC up to third place in the league table with 13 points from eight matches, one point ahead of Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society, who have a game in hand. Arambagh remained second from bottom on goal difference with five points from the same number of matches, level with bottom side Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club.
Police came into the match on the back of a statement win over league leaders Bashundhara Kings in the previous round, and Friday’s result further strengthened their push up the table.
Four more BFL matches are scheduled for Saturday. PWD Sports Club will face Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur, Brothers Union will take on Fortis FC at the Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, Mohammedan Sporting Club will meet Rahmatganj at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium, also in Munshiganj, while table-toppers Bashundhara Kings will host Abahani Limited Dhaka at the Kings Arena in the capital.
