BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has sought full cooperation of professionals from all corners of the society to secure a strong public mandate in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
He made the appeal during a discussion with professionals on Sunday night.
Addressing the event virtually, Tarique Rahman said, “We certainly require public support to implement the plans we have made, and the next government must stand on a strong mandate to carry out these tasks. If the mandate is weak, perhaps many of the works will not be possible.
“To obtain that strong mandate, public support is essential. You can assist us in this from your respective positions.”
He stated that if the BNP forms the next government, its primary priorities will be establishing the rule of law, and improving the law and order situation in the country.
The BNP acting chairman said, “One point has emerged in today’s discussion – those who will be elected and form the government must first ensure one thing – the rule of law, people’s security, and law and order, in a word. We must give this matter our first priority at any cost.
“And the reins of corruption must be pulled tight. Then there is the possibility that many problems will diminish.”
Addressing the professionals, Tarique said, “Let our expectation and our pledge for the coming days be that we can begin the work of building our desired Bangladesh through the next government.
“Therefore, let us ensure we make a good start. Let today’s event be our commitment, our expectation, and let it be our promise to the people.”
Outlining what the BNP aims to do to build a future Bangladesh, he mentioned that the party must plan regarding the education system, unemployment, family cards, farmer cards, health cards, and other such issues.
The discussion titled “Upcoming National Parliament Election and Public Expectations” was organised by the BNP at a city hotel on Sunday night.
It was attended by citizens from various professions, including university teachers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, journalists, human rights activists, and cultural activists.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Professor Borhan Uddin Khan.
The discussion, chaired by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and conducted by Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, also featured remarks from Professor Mahbub Ullah, Dr Jahed Ur Rahman and Mahdi Amin, Ferdous Ara Begum, Prof Akhtar Hossain Khan, journalist Abdul Hai Shikdar, Syed Abdal Ahmed, Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron, and others.
