India Under 19 posted a massive 433 for six and crushed the United Arab Emirates with a dominant batting display in the Youth Asia Cup.
Batting first at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai, India piled on the runs across all 50 overs. The total became the highest score in Youth Asia Cup history. It also stood as India’s best ever total in Youth One Day cricket.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi led the charge with the bat. The 14 year old played a fearless innings. He scored 171 runs from just 95 balls. He attacked from the start and kept the pressure on the bowlers. His knock laid the base for the huge score.
India lost the toss and were asked to bat. That did not slow them down. The batters played with intent from the first over. Captain Ayush Mhatre guided the innings calmly. The run rate stayed high throughout.
The final score broke several records. Bangladesh had held the Youth Asia Cup record with 364 runs against Qatar in 2012. That mark is now history.
India also went past their previous best in Youth One Day cricket. Their earlier highest score was 425. That came in the 2004 Under 19 World Cup in Dhaka against Scotland.
This innings underlined the strength of India’s youth system. The team showed skill and confidence. Australia still hold the overall Youth One Day record with 480 runs. But this effort stands among the finest in the format.
