Mongla Port handled 830 vessels in the 2024–25 fiscal year, with Interport Ship Agent managing 123 and capturing nearly 15% of total ship-handling operations.
The performance earned the company the top vessel-handling agent award for the fourth time, according to a press release.
The crest was handed over during the 75th founding anniversary of Mongla Port on 1 December.
The honour was presented to Interport Ship Agents director (operations) Capt Shaheen Iqbal by Mongla Port Authority chairman Rear Admiral Shaheen Rahman.
Interport retained its position as the leading ship-handling agent after previously securing the same title in 2020–21, 2021–22 and 2022–23.
Port records show the company handled 225 of 886 vessels in the 2021–22 fiscal year.
It managed 204 of 827 vessels passing through the port in the 2022–23 fiscal year.
Interport has been providing port agency services at Chattogram and Mongla ports for 22 years as a subsidiary of Interport Group.
The company handles around 400 vessels annually as declaring agents, owners protecting agents, husbandry agents and crew change agents for both international and domestic principals.
Its operations also include spare parts logistics and crew manning services.
Becoming the top agent for the fourth time reflects hands-on experience, strong operational knowledge and a dedicated team capable of managing every vessel safely and efficiently, said Interport Group managing director Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah.
Reliable performance comes from end-to-end port agency services — from logistics to crew changes — he added.
Joining the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network as the first Bangladeshi company strengthened client trust and placed Bangladesh on the global integrity map, he said.
The use of technology and digital tools has improved efficiency, transparency and client service, helping Interport maintain its leadership in ship-handling operations, he further said.
