The introduction of e-family courts across the country will not only reduce public suffering, but corruption as well, said Law Adviser Asif Nazrul.
He made the remarks on Monday morning while addressing the inauguration ceremony of e-family court at the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court.
The law adviser stated, “Through the e-family court, public suffering and corruption will undoubtedly decrease, and time will also be saved. The chief adviser’s most important office is WhatsApp. He works mostly through this platform. Therefore, we should also move towards digitalisation.”
He further mentioned, “We have implemented 21 reforms at the Law Ministry. We hope that whichever political party comes to power after us will cherish these reforms out of love for the country. Therefore, we request the next government to continue our initiatives.”
Asif Nazrul then pointed out, “You will receive justice through free legal aid. We have made it mandatory for family cases. We have currently launched it in 20 districts, and we will expand it to all 64 districts soon. We hope case backlogs will reduce by 50 per cent within five years.”
He further added, “It took former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew 10 years to reform Singapore. Therefore, reforms cannot happen overnight. We cannot weaken the state structure by implementing reforms that the people cannot accept.
“The people must also be prepared to accept reforms. We must be realistic in implementing such measures.”
