The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has promptly opened an emergency response centre at the Department of Disaster Management in the aftermath of the earthquake.

The centre collected preliminary information on the damage caused by the earthquake by contacting all district administrations. Initial damage reports were received from the districts of Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Narsingdi, and Magura.

In Dhaka district, specifically in Dhaka city, 4 people were killed and 59 injured; in Narayanganj, 1 person was killed and 18 injured; in Narsingdi, 5 people were killed and 110 injured; in Gazipur, 252 people were injured; and in Magura, 22 people were injured. So far, information has been received of 10 people killed and 461 injured as a result of the earthquake.

There is continuous communication with the district administrations to handle the situation. Assistance of Tk25,000 per family for the deceased and Tk15,000 per injured person is already being provided and continued through the district administrations.

It is noted that many of the injured, after receiving treatment at various hospitals, have been discharged and returned home after initial medical care. Necessary activities are being undertaken to assess the damage caused by the earthquake. Information obtained after the damage assessment will be shared later.
