The Dhaka District Administration has announced emergency financial assistance for those injured during Friday morning’s 5.7-magnitude earthquake.
Each injured individual will be provided with up to Tk 15,000 to support immediate medical treatment.
The tremor, which was felt across the capital and several other parts of the country on Friday morning, left many injured either while fleeing in panic or through earthquake-related accidents.
The announcement was made through a special press release issued on Saturday by Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Md Rezaul Karim.
According to the notice, individuals residing in Dhaka or came to the city for work, who sustained injuries during the earthquake, will be eligible for the financial assistance.
However, the release states that disbursement of the support will require a formal recommendation from the attending physician.
Application process
Injured individuals, or their attendants or close relatives, may apply for the support by contacting the Dhaka District Administration’s control room.

The administration has also urged all hospitals in Dhaka to ensure that information about the financial support reaches earthquake-injured patients and their families currently receiving treatment.
