Social media platforms have been abuzz with speculation following the appearance of US Army and Air Force personnel at Cox’s Bazar beach, with various video clips and photos fueling curiosity about their purpose. As of Wednesday evening, neither the government nor local administration had issued an official statement addressing these rumors.

However, Cox’s Bar local authorities confirmed that the US military members were present as part of a training program for the Fire Service, focused on rescuing victims of floods, tidal surges, and cyclones. The four-day training session concluded on Wednesday near the beach’s paragliding point, where US personnel interacted with local trainees during the final day.

Cox’s Bazar Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Tanharul Islam stated, “With support from the US Embassy, American military personnel trained our officers in flood and cyclone rescue operations, including water rescue techniques.”

Certificates were distributed to participants during Wednesday’s closing ceremony, he said.
