The National Citizen Party (NCP) has called on the Public Service Commission (PSC) to seriously consider the legitimate concerns of candidates regarding the proposed date of the 47th BCS written examination.
The call was made in a statement signed on Thursday by NCP joint member secretary Faisal Mahmud Shanto.
The statement said that although the steps taken by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) for speed, transparency and reform in the BCS examination process are positive, the written examination schedule may severely affect candidates’ preparation.
Usually, candidates are given three to four months to prepare for the BCS written test, but this time they are effectively getting only two months. In addition, the holding of two special BCS exams has further reduced the preparation time for many candidates.
The party said this has created fears that the level playing field may be disrupted and that the candidates of the 47th BCS may face discrimination compared to previous BCS batches.
The NCP expressed hope that as a constitutional institution, the PSC would take student-friendly decisions and ensure that the written examination becomes a fair and proper merit-testing process, rather than a two-month “marathon competition.”
The NCP also urged the PSC to take necessary measures to quickly resolve the issue, considering the demands of the 47th BCS written examination candidates.
