A bus transporting Umrah pilgrims collided with a diesel tanker near Madinah, resulting in a major fire and the deaths of at least 45 people.
The pilgrims had journeyed from Hyderabad to Jeddah on 9 November and were scheduled to return on 23 November. Out of the 54 travellers, four had opted to travel separately by car to Madinah, while another four stayed behind in Makkah, reports Gulf news.
The bus carrying the remaining 46 individuals met with the accident around 1:30 am IST, near Mufrihat, approximately 25 km from Madinah, shortly after they had completed their pilgrimage rituals.
Rescue officials said the bus was charred, making it extremely difficult to identify those who died. Only one passenger survived and is receiving hospital treatment.
