The engine of a commuter train suddenly caught fire in Gouripur, Mymensingh, on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred near Gouripur Railway Station around 10am, said Mymensingh Railway Police Station Officer-in-charge Akhtar Hossain.
No casualties were reported, he added.
Train movement on the route was suspended until the engine was replaced around 12:30pm.
However, railway communication resumed when train No. 49 “Balaka” departed for its destination with the help of an alternative engine.
Train operations on the route returned to normal afterward.
