The national election will be held as scheduled, said Asif Nazrul, adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, on Sunday.
“There is no doubt about the election — it will be held on time,” he told reporters in front of the Judicial Magistrate Court in Rajshahi in the morning.
Asif Nazrul added, “We are working to make the election acceptable. Political figures and parties are making various statements to exert pressure, but we are taking those into account and continuing our efforts.”
In response to a question about criminals reoffending after being released on bail, he said, “Granting bail is under the jurisdiction of the court. We have no role in that. However, we are taking the matter into consideration.”
The adviser also visited the Legal Aid Office and toured the court premises.
