A woman was killed after being hit by a bus in Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur area on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Sathia Begum, 55, a resident of Shahjahanpur Railway Water Tank colony.
The incident occurred around 8:30pm in front of a shop near Shahjahanpur flyover, said Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp.
Galib Saifullah, a passenger on the bus that hit the woman, said, “After finishing our duty at Aman Graphics and Design Company in Hemayetpur, we were returning to Dhaka on our staff bus. As the bus reached the flyover, it hit the woman who was crossing the road. We took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead around 9:45pm.”
Inspector Md Faruk said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
