A collision involving a speeding dumper truck and seventeen other vehicles resulted in thirteen fatalities near Loha Mandi in Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Monday afternoon, with over ten individuals sustaining injuries, as confirmed by police.
Three of the wounded are in critical condition and have been transferred to the SMS Hospital Trauma Centre.
Police reported the empty dumper was traveling from the Loha Mandi Petrol Pump in the direction of Road No 14 when the operator failed to maintain control, striking various vehicles and pedestrians along a stretch of approximately 300 meters. A number of automobiles, motorcycles, and individuals were in its trajectory before the truck finally stopped.
The victims were transported to medical facilities via ambulance, and traffic was rerouted away from the location of the crash.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma conveyed profound sorrow regarding the incident and ordered administrators to provide optimal care for those hurt. He sent ministers Jhavar Singh Kharra and KK Bishnoi to Kanwatia Hospital and ministers Suresh Rawat and Sumit Godara to SMS Hospital to supervise aid operations.
Sharma mentioned he is overseeing developments directly and has directed the district collector and medical center administrations to prevent any shortcomings in healthcare provision.
In a social media post, the chief minister stated, “The loss of lives in the road accident at Loha Mandi in Harmada, Jaipur, is extremely tragic and painful. Instructions have been given to ensure proper treatment for the injured. May God grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear this loss.”
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed his sympathies, posting, “Deeply saddened to learn about the horrific road accident in Harmada, Jaipur, which has caused heavy loss of lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. May the departed souls rest in peace and the families find strength in this difficult time.”
