A delegation from International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC), led by ANM Shamsul Islam, chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), met the Ambassador of Palestine to Bangladesh in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The team included Mohammad Shahjahan, vice chairman of BoT, Professor Abu Bakr Rafique, member of the Board and Md Mahfuzur Rahman, director (in charge) of the International Affairs and Student Welfare Division, said a press release.
Ambassador Yousef SY Ramadan welcomed the IIUC representatives and presented them with a Uttorio (Scarf) inscribed with the words “Free Palestine.” In return, the delegation handed over a crest on behalf of IIUC.
During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral matters and recalled the long-standing fraternal relations between Bangladesh and Palestine, as well as the brotherly relationship between the Palestine Embassy at Dhaka and IIUC.
The ambassador thanked IIUC for granting full scholarships to 27 Palestinian students, noting that a group of 10 is expected to arrive in January 2026.
He also hosted a gala lunch in honour of the visitors, attended by Deputy Head of Mission Ziad MH Hamad, First Secretary HO Alaydi, and Military Attaché Colonel Mahmoud MJ Alshahrawnah.
Before departing, the IIUC delegation conveyed their heartfelt gratitude for the ambassador’s time and hospitality and invited him to visit the university at his convenience.
