Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested ten people in connection with the killing and arson attack on Dipu Chandra Das in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh, said the Chief Adviser’s press wing.
The arrestees are Md Limon Sarker, 19; Md Tarek Hossain, 19; Md Manik Mia, 20; Ershad Ali, 39; Nijum Uddin, 20; Alamgir Hossain, 38; Md Miraj Hossain Akon, 46; Md Azmal Hasan Sagir, 26; Md Shahin Mia, 19; and Md Nazmul, 21.
Members of RAB-14 arrested the suspects during drives conducted in different areas of the district.
On Thursday night, Dipu Chandra Das was brutally beaten to death in Dubaliyapara area of the upazila over allegations of making derogatory remarks about religion.
Following the killing, an enraged mob took the victim’s body to the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, hanged it from a tree, and set it on fire around 9pm.
