A total of 669 educational institutions achieved 100 per cent pass rate in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, according to official results published on Monday at 10am.
The figures show a steep decline from last year’s performance, when 984 institutions achieved a 100 per cent pass rate. This represents a drop of 315 schools where every participating candidate successfully cleared the examinations.
Out of 30,402 educational institutions that had candidates sitting for exams nationwide, these 669 perfect-pass schools stood out against a backdrop of declining overall student performance.
The average pass rate across 11 education boards dropped to 62.25 per cent this year, compared to 68.45 per cent in 2025.
The downward trend in perfect institutional performance is accompanied by an increase in failing schools.
This year, 312 educational institutions recorded a zero per cent pass rate, meaning not a single candidate from those institutions passed the examinations.
This is more than double the 134 institutions that recorded a zero per cent pass rate in 2025.
Additionally, the total number of students securing a GPA-5 across the boards fell to 116,676, down from 139,032 in the previous year.
