A Dhaka court on Friday sent 52 members of the activities banned Awami League and its associate organisations to jail in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act, following their arrest from a residential area under Vatara Police Station in the capital.
They were reportedly detained while planning a discussion meeting and milad mahfil on the occasion of 15 August.
Additionally, considering their age, two juveniles have been sent to the Tongi Juvenile Development Centre in Gazipur.
On Friday afternoon, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order following an application by the investigating officer of the case. Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamal Hossain of the Prosecution Department confirmed the development.
