5 additional IGPs sent into forced retirement

The government has sent five additional inspectors general of police including Kusum Dewan, chief of the River Police, into forced retirement.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday issued five separate notifications in this regard.

Four others are Abu Hasan Muhammad Tariq, additional IGP (OSD), Police Headquarters; Md Abdul Alim Mahmud, additional IGP (OSD), Police Headquarters; Md Masudur Rahman, Police Headquarters; and Md Tawfiq Mahbub Chowdhury, principal of Rajshahi Sardah.

According to the notifications, under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018), they have been retired in the public interest. They will receive retirement benefits as per regulations.

The order takes immediate effect.
