A total of 471 people have been arrested and 49 cases filed during regular anti-crime operations conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across the capital in the past 24 hours.
The arrests were made by different divisions of the DMP, including 53 by Ramna Division, 29 by Lalbagh Division, 59 by Wari Division, 69 by Motijheel Division, 78 by Tejgaon Division, 78 by Mirpur Division, 43 by Gulshan Division, 43 by Uttara Division and 19 by the Detective Branch.
During the operations, police recovered 10.11 kilogrammes of cannabis, 12,284 yaba tablets, six cans of local Hunter Beer, a screwdriver, three knives, two machetes, a hasua, a cutter, another knife, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, five mobile phones, two televisions, a microwave oven, Tk1,550 in cash and rescued two victims.
The DMP said the arrests were made during separate drives in different police station areas of the capital, with police recovering illegal drugs and locally made weapons from the suspects.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is currently under process, police said.
