A total of 45,158 Bangladeshi pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia as of Monday following the completion of this year’s Hajj, which began on 26 May.
An official reported that 105 return flights were operated by three designated carriers, with 43 flights each by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudia Airlines, and 19 by Flynas Airlines.
According to the Hajj office, 3,511 Hajis returned under government management, while 41,647 travelled through private agencies on the 105 flights.
Tragically, 49 Bangladeshi pilgrims passed away in Saudi Arabia during Hajj, including 33 men and 16 women. Of these, 35 deaths occurred in Makkah, 13 in Madinah, and one in Jeddah. No fatalities were reported in Mina or Muzdalifah.
The Hajj bulletin also noted that 401 pilgrims received treatment at various Saudi hospitals, with 11 requiring hospitalisation. Saudi medical centres provided services to 59,671 pilgrims, while the IT help desk assisted 26,998 Hajis in Makkah and Madinah.
This year’s Hajj operations commenced with the first outbound flight on April 18 and concluded on 21 May. Return flights began on May 30 and are scheduled to continue until 1 July.
