Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 442 individuals and filed 29 cases during routine drives conducted across different areas of the capital in the last 24 hours.
According to DMP, the arrests were carried out by various divisions and specialised units.
The Mirpur Division recorded the highest number of arrests at 119, followed by Tejgaon Division with 67, Uttara Division with 56, and Motijheel Division with 54. Other arrests included 49 by Wari Division, 31 by Ramna Division, 30 by Lalbagh Division, and 29 by Gulshan Division.
Furthermore, the Detective Branch (DB) arrested six people, while the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested one individual.
During these drives, police recovered a significant haul of illicit substances and suspicious materials. The seizures included 46 Yaba pills, 216 grams of cannabis, and drug-consuming paraphernalia such as pipes made from 50-taka notes, a bottle cork, a piece of foil paper, and an open-ended gas lighter.
Police also seized 16 mobile phones, 21 credit and debit cards from various banks, 10 cheque books, and 443 SIM cards.
During the operations, police rescued one victim.
The arrests were primarily made in connection with drug recovery and other criminal activities. Legal proceedings against the arrested people are underway.
