Four more people died of suspected measles symptoms in the 24 hours till 8am on Friday, taking the total death toll to 167, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among these, 144 deaths were suspected to be linked to measles, while 23 have been confirmed through laboratory tests.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room issued a press release on Friday, providing the latest updates on the measles outbreak.
According to the release, 1,177 new cases of suspected measles were reported across the country during the 24 hours period. As a result, the total number of suspected measles cases has now reached 13,497 since March 15, 2026.
The report also mentioned that, over the same period, 168 new cases of confirmed measles were registered, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 2,409.
The highest number of suspected cases was recorded in Dhaka Division, with 462 people showing symptoms of measles, followed by 230 cases in Sylhet Division.
DGHS clarified that three previously reported deaths at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Universal Medical College Hospital in Dhaka Division were inaccurately recorded, leading to a revision of the suspected deaths count, reducing it by three.
While no new confirmed measles-related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of fatalities from confirmed measles remains at 23.
Dhaka Division has reported the highest number of confirmed measles cases, with 1,281, followed by Rajshahi Division, which has recorded 757 confirmed cases.
The Health Department has stated that it is continuously monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to control the spread of the disease.
