Measles outbreak in Bangladesh remains at an alarming level, with four more deaths and 699 new suspected cases reported in the last 24 hours. According to latest health bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) integrated control centre, 74 cases were confirmed.
Of the four deaths recorded during this 24-hour period, three were from Sylhet, specifically within Sunamganj and Moulvibazar districts, while one death was reported in Dhaka.
Data from Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room reveals that since 15 March 2026, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 116,710, with 14,318 confirmed cases.
During this period, 99,249 suspected patients were admitted to hospitals, including 649 admissions in the last 24 hours alone. Conversely, 498 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries since 15 March to 95,529.
The cumulative death toll from suspected measles since 15 March has risen to 689. Dhaka division alone has recorded the highest number of suspected deaths at 299, followed by Sylhet division with 97.
Moreover, there have been 95 confirmed deaths from the disease to date, with the highest toll of 59 recorded in Dhaka. Regional data for the last 24 hours shows that Dhaka identified the highest number of suspected cases at 283, followed by Chattogram with 144 and Barishal with 115.
