Three women were killed and at least three others, including the autorickshaw driver, were critically injured in a head-on collision between a sand-laden truck and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Muktagacha, Mymensingh.
The incident took place around 12pm on Monday in Satrasia area on Mymensingh–Tangail highway. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.
According to police and locals, the autorickshaw, carrying passengers towards Muktagacha, was crushed by a truck coming from the opposite direction.
The vehicle was completely mangled, killing the three women on the spot.
Police and Fire Service personnel, along with locals, rescued the injured and took them to a local hospital, where several injured remain in critical condition.
Muktagacha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kamrul Hasan said the truck has been seized and the bodies recovered.
Legal procedures will be completed after identification before handing the bodies over to their families.
