Three Rohingyas were abducted early Wednesday from a hilly area near a refugee camp in Whykong union under Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
They are Shafique Alam, Mohammad Zainal and Shah Alam residents of the Chakmarkul 21 Rohingya refugee camp.
According to locals, the Myanmar nationals were guarding paddy fields at night to protect crops from wild elephants when a group of miscreants attacked and took them away.
Others who were with them managed to flee and informed us, they said.
Confirming the incident, Humayun Kabir, commander of the Chakmarkul 16 APBn police camp, said an operation has been launched to rescue the victims.
