Three people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a cattle-carrying vehicle and an auto-rickshaw in Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi.
Bagha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Serajul Haque confirmed the matter. The incident occurred around 7am on Monday in front of Hazrat Ali’s house in Chandipur on the Bagha-Lalpur road.
The deceased have been identified as Shariful Islam, 45, the auto-rickshaw, Bidhan Das, 55, and Rokena Begum, 90. The injured individuals are Shahajan Ali, 35 and Shima Begum, 50.
According to OC Serajul, the auto-rickshaw driver was heading towards Bagha with passengers from Naopara village in Lalpur. When the vehicle reached the Chandipur area, it collided head-on with a cattle-carrying vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Shariful, Bidhan, and Rokena died on the spot.
The injured, Shahajan and Shima, were initially admitted to the Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
OC Serajul added that the bodies have been recovered and brought to the police station. The auto-rickshaw and cattle-carrying vehicle have been seized. Legal action will be taken in this matter.
