On the third day, 131 candidates submitted appeal applications to the Election Commission (EC) against the decisions of returning officers regarding the acceptance and cancellation of nomination papers for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.

With this, the number of appeal applications over three days stands at 295. EC Public Relations Division Director Ruhul Amin Mallik provided the information on Wednesday.

According to the EC, 131 appeal applications were submitted on the third day. Among these, three appeal applications were against the acceptance of nominations.

On the third day, 31 applications were submitted in Dhaka, 19 in Cumilla, 16 in Mymensingh, 11 in Khulna, 15 in Rajshahi, 9 in Rangpur, 7 in Faridpur, 10 in Chattogram, 9 in Barisal, and 4 in Sylhet.

On the second day, 122, and on the first day, 42 candidates had appealed to the EC.

According to the schedule, 29 December was the last date for the submission of nomination papers. Returning officers scrutinised these papers between 30 December and 4 January.
