Two suspected deaths from measles were reported across Bangladesh in the 24 hours ending at 8am on Tuesday, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the deceased, one was from Dhaka and the other from Sylhet. DGHS Integrated Control Centre released the data, citing a notification from Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room.
According to DGHS, 107 new confirmed measles cases and 872 suspected cases were identified across the country during this 24-hour period.
With the latest figures, the cumulative number of confirmed measles patients in the country since 15 March this year has reached 17,385, while the total number of suspected cases stands at 138,184.
The total number of suspected deaths during this period has reached 782, with 98 confirmed deaths recorded so far.
A division-wise breakdown of the last 24 hours shows that Dhaka recorded the highest number of suspected cases with 340, followed by Chattogram with 160, Barishal with 133, and Sylhet with 103.
During the same 24-hour period, 623 patients were newly admitted to various hospitals across the country, while 652 were discharged. To date, a total of 120,134 patients have been hospitalised, of whom 115,980 have recovered and returned home.
Meanwhile, under National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Programme 2026, a total of 47,684,419 people have been vaccinated at the divisional level against a target of 44,495,525, achieving a 107 per cent coverage rate.
Additionally, in the country’s 12 city corporations, 2,049,593 people received the vaccine against a target of 1,905,843, representing a coverage rate of 108 per cent.
