Two workers were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a sand-laden truck in Tangail’s Ghatail upazila on Monday morning.
The accident occurred around 6:30am in the Hamidpur area on the Tangail-Mymensingh highway.
The deceased were identified as Atikul Islam, 40, and Majnu Mia, 43, both residents of Gopalpur upazila.
Ghatail Police Station Sub-Inspector Nazim Uddin said, the bus travelling from Gopalpur collided with an oncoming sand-laden truck.
One victim died on the spot, while the other died after being taken to Kalihati Upazila Health Complex. The injured are receiving treatment there.
Police said the bodies will be handed over to the families after legal formalities are completed.
