Two people were killed when a truck rammed into the rear of another truck on the Bhanga Expressway in Faridpur early Monday. The accident occurred around 5:30am on the Dhaka‑bound lane near the Atadi flyover.
The deceased were identified as the driver and helper of the fish-laden truck.
One of the victims was identified as Md Shamim, 30, a resident of Chachra village under Kotwali Police Station in Jashore. The identity of the helper, estimated to be around 28 years old, could not be confirmed immediately.
According to police and local sources, the truck carrying tree saplings was moving slowly on the flyover when the fish-laden truck lost control and crashed into it from behind. The impact left the front of the truck severely damaged, killing the driver and helper on the spot.
Bhanga Highway Police recovered the bodies and seized both vehicles.
Sub-Inspector Sohel Khan of Bhanga Highway Police confirmed the incident and said legal proceedings are underway, while traffic movement on the expressway remains normal.
