The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has fixed 4 December for hearing on charge framing against two army officers — Lt Col Mohammad Redwanul Islam and Maj Md Rafat-bin-Alam — in a case over killings of 28 people in Dhaka’s Rampura during last year’s July uprising.
The three-member bench, led by ICT Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, set the dates on Monday.
Around 10am, the two officers were brought to the tribunal amid tight security. Police and RAB personnel had been deployed in the area from early morning.
Lt Col Redwanul and Maj Rafat are among four accused in a case involving allegations of crimes against humanity committed in Rampura on 18 and 19 July 2024.
They were produced before the tribunal on 22 October, along with 13 other army officers, and later sent all of them to jail. They are now being held in a sub-jail inside Dhaka Cantonment.
The ICT-1 had earlier set 26 October as the date for the case’s hearing schedule.
On Sunday, the tribunal heard the 13 other officers and produced them before the court. It fixed 3 December and 7 December for hearings on charge framing in two separate cases involving crimes against humanity allegations against those 13 officers.
