The death toll of militants killed in clearance operations across Balochistan in Pakistan has climbed to 197, as security forces pressed on with ‘mop-up’ actions in Nushki district and other parts of the province.
The operations were launched in response to a series of coordinated attacks carried out on Saturday.
In Nushki, armed men stormed multiple government offices including a police station, judicial complex, police lines, the DC office, and an FC camp before setting several buildings ablaze, Dawn reports.
Officials said the town has since been cleared, with bazaars reopening after three days, though search operations continue in the surrounding mountainous areas. District police confirmed that at least four more militants have been killed in the ongoing actions.
They also said that the counterterrorism department sustained casualties during the weekend assaults, though the exact number and identities of those martyred have not yet been released.
Elsewhere, reports of attacks emerged from Awaran, though no fatalities were immediately recorded. Security forces are also active in Washuk, where a police station and a Nadra office were torched during the weekend violence.
