At least 15 passengers were injured after a bus lost control and overturned on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway, adjacent to the Padma Bridge South Police Station.
Shibchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahurul Islam confirmed the matter. The accident occurred on Saturday on the Bhanga-bound lane in the border area of Shariatpur’s Zajira and Madaripur’s Shibchar.
According to highway police and eyewitnesses, the passenger bus from Golden Line Paribahan lost control after crossing the Padma Bridge. The vehicle then crashed and overturned on the road, injuring 15 people on board. The victims were rescued and hospitalised at Shibchar and Panchar hospitals.
OC Jahurul said it is suspected that the bus lost control due to high speed.
