At least 15 people were injured in an accident involving five vehicles near the Padma Bridge toll plaza on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj on Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 11am when a Dhaka-bound bus of Imad Paribahan reportedly lost control due to brake failure, crashing four other vehicles – Hilsha Paribahan, Gosairhat Express, a private car, and a jeep- near the Padma Bridge toll plaza on the expressway.
Being informed police and fire service men rushed to the spot and engaged in rescue operation.
Hasara Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Abdul Quader Jilani confirming the matter said the situation was brought under control and the traffic on the expressway has returned to normal.
Dewan Azad Hossain, a duty officer at Srinagar Fire Station, said the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
No fatalities have been reported so far. However, an investigation into the incident is underway, he added.
