Border Guard Bangladesh recovered 1,40,000 Yaba tablets from the Palangkhali border in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from Ukhia Battalion 64 BGB took position in the Guiza Canal area of Baharpara and challenged a suspected smuggler entering from Myanmar.
Sensing the presence of BGB, the suspect fled back towards Myanmar, leaving behind a bag, according to a BGB press release.
The force recovered the tablets, estimated to be worth Tk4.20 crore, from packets inside plastic bags.
Intelligence surveillance has been stepped up to identify and arrest the suspect, said Ukhia Battalion Commander Lt Col Md Zahirul Islam.
