Three more deaths from suspected measles have been recorded across the country in the last 24 hours, during which a total of 1,218 new cases were identified.
According to a Friday bulletin from Integrated Control Centre of the Health Services Division under Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest casualties include two from Sylhet division, one each in Sylhet and Habiganj districts, and one from Mymensingh district.
During the same 24-hour period, 1,017 new suspected cases and 201 confirmed cases of measles were detected nationwide.
Among the newly suspected cases, the highest number of patients was identified in Dhaka division with 384 cases.
This was followed by 243 cases in Chittagong division, 125 in Barisal division, 96 in Sylhet division, 62 in Mymensingh division, 56 in Khulna division, 34 in Rajshahi division, and 17 in Rangpur division.
Moreover, 943 measles patients were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours, while 938 patients were discharged upon recovery.
With these latest figures, the cumulative number of suspected measles cases in the country has risen to 134,655 between 16 March 2026 and 7 August 2026, while confirmed infections have reached 16,941.
The total death toll during this period has reached 770 from suspected measles and 96 from confirmed infections.
Since 16 March, a total of 116,822 patients have received treatment at hospitals, while 112,525 patients have recovered and returned home.
Despite the ongoing outbreak, positive progress has been achieved under the National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Programme.
Against an initial target of vaccinating 18,015,064 children, a total of 19,134,273 children have been vaccinated so far, representing 106 per cent of the target.
In City Corporation areas, the overall vaccination coverage stands at 107 per cent. Gazipur City Corporation recorded the highest coverage at 114 per cent, followed by Dhaka North City Corporation at 112 per cent.
