Manchester United ended a run of three winless games in the Premier League as they came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday, 30 November 2025. Joshua Zirkzee ended a long goal drought before Mason Mount struck the decisive winner in the second half.
Palace had taken the lead in the first half through Jean-Philippe Mateta’s penalty, awarded after Leny Yoro fouled the French striker in the 36th minute. Mateta’s initial attempt was briefly disallowed due to a double-touch, but under the new rule, the goal was retaken and successfully converted.
United’s revival began after the interval. Zirkzee, who had not scored in 24 Premier League matches since netting against Everton in December 2024, controlled Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick on his chest and fired a stunning shot into the far corner in the 54th minute to level the scores. The 24-year-old Dutch striker, who had been criticised for his £36 million ($47.7 million) move from Bologna, became the unlikely hero for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Just nine minutes later, Mason Mount, who has struggled with injuries since his move from Chelsea, netted his second goal of the season. Fernandes laid the ball off from a free-kick, and Mount lashed a low drive under the Palace wall from 20 yards, sending the Red Devils ahead.
Earlier, United had come close to taking the lead inside the first minute when Casemiro’s close-range effort was brilliantly saved by Dean Henderson following a long throw into the Palace box. Palace also had chances, with Mateta dragging a shot wide and Yeremy Pino’s strike blocked by Leny Yoro.
The win marked United’s first victory since October and ended Palace’s unbeaten home run in the Premier League since 15 February. It was a timely boost for Amorim after a slow start to the season, and demonstrated United’s grit and resilience against a team who have been a thorn in the side of the league’s top sides under Oliver Glasner.
