Barrister Zaima Rahman visited the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) in Savar on Monday, where she interacted with trainees and took part in a football session with women athletes, drawing widespread attention on social media.
A video of Zaima Rahman playing football at the country’s premier sports training institution has since gone viral, earning praise from sports enthusiasts and social media users who described it as a positive reflection of Bangladesh’s growing sporting culture.
Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said Zaima Rahman visited BKSP at the invitation of the authorities as part of an informal engagement with young athletes.
“She visited the institution to encourage young sports talents. During the visit, she toured various facilities and exchanged views with coaches and students,” he said.
The widely circulated footage shows her participating in a football drill with women players on the BKSP ground, which quickly gained traction online and sparked discussion among football fans.
Zaima Rahman arrived at BKSP in Shimulia around 10:00am to gain first-hand knowledge of the institute’s sports infrastructure and training activities, and remained there until the afternoon.
During her visit, she toured multiple sporting facilities and venues, including indoor cricket areas, the main cricket ground, artificial turf football field, Balmain Hanger and the shooting range. She also visited student hostels and interacted with resident trainees.
She attended a sports demonstration at the gymnasium and held discussions with BKSP officials, coaches and students in the mini-conference room.
Among those present during the visit were Member of Parliament Farida Yasmin, BKSP Director General Brig Gen Mohammad Saif Ullah, Director (Training) Colonel Golam Mabud Hasan, Principal Lt Col Mohammad Imran Hasan, Professor Nasrin Sultana of the Institute of Health Economics at the University of Dhaka, former national table tennis player Jobera Rahman Linu, along with other officials of the institution.
