Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has urged that the National Consensus Commission’s report be rewritten in an easy-to-understand format and published as a book for public access.
On Wednesday, members of the commission handed over the eight-volume report to the Chief Adviser at the state guesthouse Jamuna. The volumes contain detailed recommendations, meeting summaries, and minutes of the commission’s proceedings.
After reviewing the report, the Chief Adviser said, “This report should be made into a version that is easy for everyone to understand. It must be published as a book so that ordinary people and students at schools and colleges can read it, comprehend it, and explain it to others.”
He also called for publishing the book in both English and Bengali.
“The book should be designed to become essential reading for students in the future,” the Chief Adviser added. “The younger generation will read it, learn from it, and share what they know with their parents.”
Among those present at the handover were the members of the commission are Prof Ali Riaz, head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, members Justice Md Emdadul Haque, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, Dr Md Aiyub Mia, and special assistant to the chief adviser Monir Haider.
Professor Ali Riaz said the eight-volume report includes the July National Charter 2025, the commission’s process and background, written proposals from political parties, public opinions, spreadsheets sent to parties, and full records of all discussions and dialogues.
“We believe this report will serve as an important document for future research both in Bangladesh and abroad,” he said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the commission submitted its recommendations to the government for implementing the July National Charter.
