Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has instructed that the BCS examination be held at a specific time each year according to the calendar while maintaining transparency.
The chief adviser gave this directive during a meeting with officials of the Public Service Commission (PSC) at state guesthouse Jamuna on Sunday afternoon.
The chief adviser said, “Examinations and appointments must be completed at a fixed time each year according to the calendar. The BCS examination is the ‘entry point.’ Those who pass this exam will run the government. So, if there is any irregularity at the entry point, its impact will remain throughout the entire system.”
“Problems and crises that exist must be resolved by taking responsibility. Everyone must work together for necessary reforms. This is also necessary for those who will run the government in the future,” he said.
At the meeting, PSC Chairman Professor Dr Mobasher Monem discussed establishing the commission’s financial and administrative autonomy.
He further informed that the commission has already provided a five-year roadmap, and examinations and appointments will be completed each year between November and October of the following year.
Commission members stated that, over the past 15 years, due to political interference, various irregularities, favouritism, and question leaks have occurred in the BCS exams. Necessary reforms have been completed to ensure that irregularities never return to the PSC and that it becomes a place of trust for all. The quality of question papers is being enhanced so that job seekers can also compete in global competitions by preparing for these exams.

Sohel Rahman, Professor Dr Chowdhury Sayma Ferdous, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr Md. Anwarul Islam, Professor Dr Shahnaz Sarker, and Secretary of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission Secretariat Dr Md Sanowar Jahan Bhuiyan.
